Okay, so lately social networks are popping up all over the place like mushrooms, but it is undeniable that some of them have potential. At BBVAtech we didn’t want to get left behind so we have jumped on the bandwagon. To mark Museum Day and Internet Day in May, we decided to merge both events into a digital initiative: #MuseoTech.
Yes, we have gone all nostalgic. Technology is advancing at such a pace that it doesn’t give us time to get used to a device before it becomes completely obsolete. Hence we wanted to pay this tribute to all those technologies that have accompanied us in our lives and have made life easier and more pleasant for us. To this end, we have brought together past and present, using the latest hit social network: Pinterest.
But what is this Pinterest?
We could begin by praising the virtues of Pinterest, talking about its enormous success and how it has become the social network of the moment. This success has been driven by the praise it has received from big media players such as Business Insider which goes so far as to put it on a par with Twitter, and even Time magazine, where it was chosen as one of the 50 best websites in 2011.
Simply put, Pinterest is a social network where users publish their photos. -Ah, but don’t we already have Facebook or Instagram for that? There is no comparison. Using a native button (Pin it) you can save images of everything of interest to you. There are also other ways of pinning, for example through add-ons which are integrated into your browser, enabling you to save the image by right-clicking with your mouse. The images are arranged on walls, like a digital pinboard where you hang your photos. When you click on it, each image selected sends you to the original website where it was pinned, which opens up not only leisure but also business opportunities. It is based on simplicity of use, which as we have discussed in previous posts, is essential for any new initiative.
What do you think? Now, enter and have a go, share your photos and view the artefacts that have made other people happy.
