Independent of what PISA reports affirm regarding the limitedness of young people’s knowledge base or surveys that talk of a rise in so called NEET people (Not in education, employment or training), at BBVAtech we have had the opportunity to meet a group of university students who represent hope in these difficult times.
These young people from varied universities and educational backgrounds (Naval Engineering, Aeronautics, Electronics, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, Marketing, etc.) make up FuVe – Future Vehicles and Entrepreneurs, from where they intend to “design and set up innovative, hi-tech projects which will be of use to industry, the Army and Navy, and society”.
It is known among us that the ranks of Technology and Operations at BBVA boast a wide variety of profiles: IT people (of average geekiness), economists, journalists, secretaries, the ones from telecomms…although what most fills us with pride is finding ourselves amongst entrepreneurs. By day, time spent in the area of Channels and New Digital Projects. By night, hours of sleep diminish. Like the double personality of comicbook superheroes. Now, all of this effort has borne is fruits and finally we can speak with pride of project L8 Smartlight.
Indeed, it seems that we are yet again talking about the hot topic of the moment: gamification, which is the use of game dynamics for more “serious” purposes and an area of considerable potential in the business world.
However, today we are not going to highlight the use large corporations are making of gamification, nor are we going to analyse the huge shift society is undergoing as these new technologies are put into place.
In the last edition of La Red Innova, we met some of the speakers and we asked them these two questions:
Which of the existing technologies could change the world in the future? And which one would you like to has been invented yet?
In the following two videos you will see what they answered to us.
The third edition of La Red Innova opens in Madrid on Thursday, a major event for technology based businesses. During two days, attendees will be able to attend presentations by leading experts and representatives from key companies from around the world, as well as meeting some of the young IT companies that are emerging on both sides of the Atlantic.
BBVA will be taking a leading role, not only by actively participating in the organisation of the Open Talent competition for start-ups, but also through the presentation on Smart Cities that will given by project manager Marcelo Soria, who will talk about the use of data in developing and providing new services for citizens.
